Georgi Shulev is an entrepreneur, fintech innovator, and co-founder of Yugo — building financial infrastructure at the intersection of agentic commerce, blockchain, and AI, where programmable money and intelligent systems reshape how the world transacts.
About Georgi Shulev
Born on 25.04.1986 in Bulgaria, Georgi Shulev developed an international outlook early in life. He attended the German Language High School in Sofia, where he built a foundation in discipline, analytical thinking, and cross-cultural fluency, before moving to the United Kingdom to pursue higher education.
He earned a degree in Business Administration from the University of Bath, building a strong base in economics, finance, and organizational theory. He then completed a Master's degree in Strategy and International Business at Aston Business School, where his dissertation — The Euro Effect on FDI Inflows in the Economic and Monetary Union of the European Union — earned the highest distinction across the entire business school. His academic work drew an invitation to pursue a PhD, but Georgi chose to channel his research-driven thinking into a professional career, driven by the conviction that building real-world systems would have greater impact.
He began his professional career in investment banking, gaining early exposure to global capital markets and high-stakes financial decision-making. He started in London at Lehman Brothers, followed by a role at UniCredit Bank Austria in Vienna, where he worked in mergers and acquisitions across energy, telecommunications, industrials, and consumer markets. This period gave him a rigorous grounding in corporate finance, valuation, M&A execution, and risk management — while also shaping his understanding of the limitations of traditional financial systems.
After several years, he made a deliberate decision to leave institutional finance in order to pursue entrepreneurship and build new financial technologies rather than merely analyze existing ones.
Building upon this institutional foundation, Georgi Shulev transitioned into entrepreneurship. He applied the rigour of high finance to the digital asset space. As a co-founder of Nexo, he was a primary architect in scaling one of the most prominent digital asset platforms. He gained invaluable experience in managing hyper-growth, global liquidity, and complex market cycles. The period defined his approach to business — a firm belief that true innovation must be underpinned by operational resilience. Having successfully concluded that chapter of his career, he now brings a hard-earned and seasoned perspective to new ventures, where structural clarity and stability are paramount.
Georgi has been actively involved with blockchain technology since 2017, closely following and participating in the development of the DeFi ecosystem from its early experimental phase to its current move toward institutional relevance. He views blockchain not as a speculative asset class, but as economic infrastructure — a foundation for programmable, transparent, and globally accessible financial systems.
He was among the early adopters of modern AI, participating in the private development beta of OpenAI beginning in March 2021. His current focus lies at the intersection of AI agents and financial infrastructure — exploring how autonomous systems can reason, coordinate, and transact using programmable money and decentralized rails. This work underpins his interest in agentic commerce, where software becomes an active economic participant rather than a passive tool.
Today, Georgi is building Yugo — a fintech venture at the forefront of agentic commerce and decentralized financial infrastructure. Yugo represents the convergence of his experience across institutional finance, blockchain, and AI into a single platform designed for the next era of programmable, intelligent financial systems.
The professional philosophy of Georgi Shulev is a commitment to institutional-grade excellence. He views the convergence of AI and decentralized infrastructure — far beyond a technological shift — as a responsibility to build safer, more transparent financial systems. He is a staunch advocate for regulatory maturation, maintaining that the future of the digital economy depends on the synergy between innovation and robust governance. For Georgi Shulev, being a reliable partner means prioritising long-term value creation and ethical stewardship — ensuring that the infrastructures of tomorrow are both resilient and globally compliant.
Beyond his professional work, Georgi is a devoted husband and the father of two children. He is a deeply curious, interdisciplinary thinker with broad interests spanning science and technology, geopolitics, macroeconomics, energy systems, and architectural design. He is also an active outdoors enthusiast — regularly hiking, snowboarding, and engaging in sports — reflecting his preference for balance between intellectual and physical pursuits.

Theses & Convictions
The convergence shaping the next phase of the global economy — and where I believe durable value will be built.
Autonomous AI as Economic Actors
Software will evolve from passive tools to active economic participants — AI agents that can reason, coordinate, and transact autonomously using programmable money and decentralized rails.
Tokenisation of Real-World Assets
The next major wave of blockchain adoption will be driven by on-chain representation of real-world value — enabling deeper liquidity, more efficient capital formation, and bridging traditional finance with decentralized systems.
Decentralized Financial Infrastructure
Blockchain is economic infrastructure, not a speculative asset class. Programmable, transparent, and globally accessible financial systems will become the default rails for value exchange.
Stablecoins as the Fabric of Global Trade
Stablecoins will become the backbone of international trade and agent-to-agent payments. Programmable money via smart contracts unlocks unprecedented efficiency — while AI abstracts blockchain's complexity, turning it into the invisible but trusted financial operating system.
Institutional Adoption
Traditional financial institutions will increasingly move on-chain — driven by regulatory clarity, client demand, and the efficiency gains of tokenized markets. This bridge between TradFi and DeFi is where the next trillion in value will flow.
The Great Convergence
Autonomous AI, tokenized assets, decentralized infrastructure, institutional adoption, and global regulatory maturation will fundamentally reshape how value is created, exchanged, and governed.
